Become a Client
Please read thoroughly so you understand the process. To become a client you must submit an Application, Service Agreement, and current vaccination records. Once we have this information we will make an Assessment appointment for you and your dog. Please understand that we care about each and every dog that we meet and we want all dogs to thrive. As such, we do not approve every dog. The cost for the assessment is $35.
You must submit an Application and Service Agreement.
Your dog’s vaccinations must not be expired. We require proof of vaccinations for Rabies, Bordetella, DHP, and CIV (canine influenza).
Send vaccination records to firstname.lastname@example.org (preferred), fax to 510.526.1367, mail or hand deliver them to our center.
Once we receive the Application, Agreement, and current vaccination record, we can schedule your Assessment.
You can schedule an Assessment appointment only after Metro Dog has received all three documents mentioned above: Application, Agreement, and non-expired vaccination record that shows all the required vaccinations.
Assessments are available by appointment only! Slots fill up quickly, so apply weeks in advance, especially if you are planning a vacation and need boarding services. Assessment happen at the following times:
Sundays through Thursdays at 11am
A Metro Dog Assessment includes a 30-minute to one hour Q&A with you and your pup followed by a brief rooming, handling, and social evaluation with your dog. If there are no initial concerns, your dog stays with us for a 1/2 day of day care, about 5 hours.
While you dog is in day care we continue to assess their comfort and social skills within a dog group, and help them acclimate to our space while learning the routine. We are observing their stress levels and work with them to help them adjust and settle in over the course of the half day of day care. We then share that evaluation with you when you return after the 5 hours around 4pm. Here we let you know if your dog has been approved or not. The $35 assessment fee is charged even if your dog does not get approved.
We are a social day care, so dog’s spend the day in company in our play groups. The different dog groups do not interact with each other, though the group your dog is in may change at any time based on their play preference, mood, and age. Our dog groups are made based on size, age, energy level, and play style. We have Small, Medium and Large Dog groups that are mellow, active, or super active. We also have senior groups for our elders, and specialty puppy groups for our youngsters. We also have specialty programs for semi private, private dogs who don’t qualify for our social programs or for dogs with special medical needs that we are equipped to handle.
