| what
makes us DIFFERENT? |
| 1. |
We do it all.
Metro Dog is proud to be the Bay Area’s first COMPLETE
pet care provider! Everything you and your pet could need
are right here under one roof: boarding, day
care, training
and classes, grooming, a
complete community
resource center for pet owners, and
a divine retail
store.
But you can also
count on Metro Dog’s standards of care for services
outside our walls and in your home and neighborhood. We provide
dog walking, pet
sitting, and drop in visits as well.
Combining the various services which your dog requires saves
you money – by purchasing one of our Metro
Dollar packages, your dollar becomes mightier. |
| 2. |
We are always open.
We are always open. Period.
That means 24/7, 365 Days A Year, with round-the-clock supervision.
Our doors are open from 6am –9pm daily, for your convenience.
And for the real night owls and red-eye regulars, we are proud
to offer late night pick-ups and drop-offs by appointment at
no additional charge. How’s that for service! |
| 3. |
We offer mighty
Metro Dollar packages.
Metro Dollars offer you a way to get more might out of each
dollar you spend at Metro Dog. Our prepaid Metro
Dollar Memberships offer the most
savings and flexibility for your money. Metro Dollars do
not expire and
can be used for boarding, day care, classes, retail purchases,
grooming, dog walking, house calls, and pet sitting services.
They are good for every service Metro Dog offers. |
| 4. |
We
are green (to the extreme!)
- We only buy, sell and use green products.
- Our Center is on a filtered water system.
- Our construction materials are sustainable, non-polluting,
and whenever possible purchased from a reuse company.
- We are the only Green Certified Pet Care Center in the
East Bay Area.
- Our poop lights up the night. Coming in 2008, our fecal
waste will be turned into methane fuel.
|
| 5. |
We are socially
responsible.
- We buy products that are fair trade*
- We support local businesses and artisans.
- We donate money to great organizations.
- We purchase green products and actively contribute to
decreasing landfill contributions through reuse.
*Disclaimer: We always choose products with environmental
sustainability and social responsibility in mind. At this
time, there are few quality pet products made within this
philosophy. We have made some painful compromises in order
to supply our pet friends with what they need. If you know
of a great maker that is green and socially responsible,
please tell us about them!
|
| 6. |
We are a positive
reinforcement center.
We believe that positive methods of training and handling
are the best practices in working with our guests. We do
not use negative consequences or behavior suppression to
manage the animals in our care. We use positive redirection
and train our staff to maintain a healthy relationship of
boundaries and positive management.
All class presenters and dog handlers at Metro Dog ascribe
to a positive reinforcement philosophy. |
| 7. |
We
are organized around your dog's individual needs.
Metro Dog is designed around your pet’s needs, and
your pet’s needs will vary according to age, size,
and sociability. We offer seven different zones for maximum
comfort, safety, and fun: active
adults, small dogs, tweenies,
puppies, old
hounds, special needs dogs,
and coming in 2008, cats. We also provide
a unique
private boarding program for
dogs that cannot be in social settings. |
| 8. |
We prioritize
your dog's health.
When we designed the Metro Dog Center, we took every opportunity
to ensure the well being of our guests. Metro Dog does not
cut corners! We offer:
- filtered water
- cushioned rubber floors
- 24 hour supervision
- regular rotation between play time in our seven yards (indoor
and outdoor) and rest time (in our comfortable pet accommodations),
to mimic a dog’s natural rhythms.
- Fresh air, sunshine, and wood chips on the ground
in our outdoor play areas create a comfortable and healthy
environment for your pup.
- Overhead radiant heat and air circulation in all indoor
areas.
- We require all dog’s maintain current vaccinations for
rabies, bordatella, and DHP.
- We require all dog’s be treated for external parasites (fleas & ticks). |
| 9. |
We are your community
hub.
Housed within Metro Dog, the Metro
Dog Community Resource Center Library is well stocked
with books, DVDs, and an internet research terminal. Couches,
study stations, and free fair-trade coffee invite you to
sit and stay a while. We also provide recommendations for
alternative care providers and local resources for everything
from greening your home to a macrobiotic diet for your
pet. The Community Resource Library will open in early
2008.
And because you can never get too much education about your
beloved pet, we also offer the Virtual
Resource Center so you
can surf at home or from your office! Subscribe to our blog
for monthly news of interest. |
