A dog
who responds to you, walks with you and waits patiently
for you is a pleasure to be with. At Metro Dog’s
training classes, it is our goal to foster a successful
learning relationship between you and your dog. We
teach your dog to love to learn and we teach you how
to guide and shape your dog's behavior. Every dog is
unique from breed traits to the environment he or she
lives in.
We want to help you find the best way to train with
compassion and respect for you and your dog. Most problems
with dogs are a result of not training. Not because
the dog doesn't respond to commands but because the
dog has no structure or challenges. Dogs are born problem
solvers; if we do not provide challenges dogs will
create their own. Providing mental stimulation builds
confidence, reduces anxiety and improves concentration.
A trained dog enriches both of your lives. |

For
those who need to start at square one. This class is
appropriate for all dogs from 8 week old puppies to
the senior dog who has never been to school.
Lay down a training foundation for you and your dog.
Learn how dogs learn and how to use your daily routine
to teach your dog anything you want. Work on manners
at home and out in the world. Build reliable responses.
Set your dog up to love to learn.
• The 4 group classes cover the basic positions,
leash skills, stay and recall.
• The 2 private lessons can be added at a very special
discount. Private sessions give you and your dog the
personal attention that insures success.
Classes are held indoors with occasional exercises outside.
All of this prepares you and your dog for real life and
Basic 3.
|
| 2. BASIC MANNERS
2 |
This
class is great for dogs who took a basic class but
need a refresher. It is also perfect for puppies after
a puppy socialization class.
Attend just the group
classes of Basic 1 and learn to keep your dog's attention
while walking calmly with you and hold positions around
variable distractions.
Preparation for Basic 3, real life, on and off leash.
|
| 3. BASIC MANNERS
3 |
This
is an intermediate level Real life class: you must
have completed Basic Manners 1, 2 or an equivalent
7-8 week basic training course elsewhere.
Work on advanced leash work, heeling, recalls, and
stays by utilizing more distance, longer durations,
and harder distractions. Classes meet in shopping areas
and parks for real life application of training skills.
Off leash, the final frontier! Work on recall from
a distance, go outs, sit and down from a distance,
out of sight stays, and trail manners.
Please bring your dog to the first class.
|
| 4. INTERMEDIATE
CLICKER WORK |
Refine
and improve your communication with your dog. This
6 week class uses clickers, shaping and body language
to train new behaviors and polish old ones. This is
the class for undoing bad habits (both dog and human)
to really get the training relationship you want. |
